Decorated overall with scrolling foliage, the rectangular case surmounted by an urn, over a circular dial and medallion decorated with a Boucher style scene, signed Lefranc, the sides similarly-decorated, the clockworks stamped with a Samuel Marti cachet

Specialist note

A similar clock by Sennet Frères, from the collection of Dowager Empress Ci Xi, is in The Palace Museum collection, Beijing. A nearly identical clock sold at Christie's, London, 10 September 2013, lot 2 (£20,000).
