Specialist note

These four works by Thomas Hirschhorn in the series Serie-KS are collages made up of images culled from magazines, which Hirschhorn has drawn over with one word mantras like “take!” and “give!” and filled out with repetitive hatching and shading gestures of his pen. Some of the source material is from the lush language of advertising—lips, eyelashes, eyes, accumulated to a perverse point—while others are charged images from scenes of war and unrest in the Middle East.
