Restituted to J. Blitz's daughter Mrs. Kuiper-Blitz, Pretoria, South Africa, from whom purchased by the present owner in 1960 .

Specialist note

The present composition is likely to be a studio version after the composition by Frans Floris in the Musée Baron Gerard, Bayeux. Another, almost identical composition by Floris is in the Museum voor Schone Kunsten, Antwerp.
