Specialist note
Queen Alexandra (1844-1925) was the daughter-in-law of Queen Victoria and wife of King Edward VII who reigned 1901-1910. She was popular with the general public demonstrated by the fact they chose to name the newly opened public exhibition space in North London, Alexandra Palace, after her. She was a lady of great style who London’s leading social elite were eager to emulate.
