Stemming from five years of development, the present Zenith complication named "Gravity Control" aims at keeping the movement of the watch horizontal, irrespective of the wrist position of its owner. By doing so, the timekeeping precision of the watch will be enhanced. Inspired by the principle of gimbal suspension, such a complication is usually found on Marine Chronometers and was used to correct variations in rate resulting from the pitch and roll of the ships.
As a result of its technical innovation, the Academy Christophe Colomb model won the "Best Complicated Watch Prize" in the 2011 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve - Geneva watchmaking Grand Prix and pays tribute to Zenith's long history and origins.
This stunning and attractive watch is in excellent overall condition and is number 1 of a limited edition of 25 examples.
