More Information
Specialist note
This seat design was first cast by the Robert Wood foundry in Philadelphia, USA in 1855, and may also have been subsequently cast in England. See G. Himmelheber, Cast Iron Furniture, Munich, 1996, p.79 and 226, pl. 120. This example has an extra pair of legs to the centre so would appear to be a variation on Robert Wood's original design.
