Specialist note

A stand of the same design and described as 'a very rare Chelsea circular leaf dish' was sold Sotheby's, London, The Parkinson Collection Part II, 21 June 1966, lot 153. This 'dish' was the subject of an article by Margaret Newton in Country Life magazine, (August 1966), in which the accuracy of the botanical specimens depicted are discussed.
