Specialist note

The stained glass window for which the drawing is a cartoon is in the south transept of Morton Church, Lincolnshire. Burne-Jones designed three lights for this window in all. He was involved in producing windows for the church from 1891-1914. This window was dedicated to Frances Hickman of Gainsborough and Thornock who died on 9 March 1826.
