The Breguet La Musicale plays a famous aria by the Italian composer Gioacchino Rossini (1792-1868), either on demand pressing the button at 10 o'clock, or at the desired time for a melodic reminder.
This is achieved by a patented application of a music-box mechanism principle. A disc carrying the pins replaces the classical music-box cylinder and alternately acts on the 15 metal teeth of the comb. A metallic glass membrane amplifies the frequencies needed to emit the tune, as well as guaranteeing water resistance. To enhance listening pleasure, La Musicale is fitted with the first magnetic strike governor in the history of watchmaking. This patented system is able to avoid background noise as well as the characteristic wear typical of classic strike-governors.
