Specialist note

Liu Qingyun is the second son of Liu Shaolu. Liu Shaolu founded Jiuhua Tang in 1937, with its main business in selling scholar wares and art supplies, as well as mounting paintings. Liu was great friends with many artists, in particular Zhang Daqian - during Zhang's residence in America, Liu sent his son Liu Qingyun to help Zhang with the transition.
