Specialist note

The composition is based on the engraving by Jan Harmensz. Muller (Amsterdam 1571-1628) of 1598, with slight alterations: The setting has been changed to a landscape with a castle in the background and an army on the second row. The child in the foreground has been replaced by a tree stump.
