Carved in relief with the three Graces interspersed by classical urns on stands, the top with a repeat scroll pattern

Specialist note

Adam designs with friezes of classical figures include a chimneypiece for Derby House, designed 1774 and the painted ceiling for Kedleston, designed 1762, see Eileen Harris, The Genius of Robert Adam, plates 424 and 47, pp. 285 and 35.
