Specialist note
Similar cartouche-panelled doors are first seen on linen presses labelled by the London maker Giles Grendey (1693-1780), then on presses by Philip Bell and Henry Kettle. In this case, the old-fashioned cornice and low height suggests a second quarter 18th century date of manufacture.
