Comprising four shelves and two drawers, each similarly decorated in gold and silver togidashi-e on a black lacquered ground, the top and second shelves with scenes of Kyoto with Kiyomizu temple, a bridge over the lake and thatched houses, the sectioned third shelf with a pine tree, bamboo and a blossoming plum tree, the fourth with susuki [pampas grass], the drawers with rural landscapes, the feet and frames with karakusa, the back with further landscapes, the back and side boards cut out with stylised motifs of flowers and fans, nashiji interiors, each with labels inscribed White Drawing Room/, Captain Townshend RN MP/, Chinese Bookstand/1 and 2
