Specialist note
A solid platinum reference 18026 Day-Date with president bracelet highlighted with a lapis lazuli dial is a striking "white and blue" color combination. The Day-Date was fitted with many different dial designs but also with an impressive number of different materials. Rolex experimented with different hard-stones, but also mother-of-pearl, coral, onyx, tiger-eye and lapis lazuli. Due to their fragile nature and high manufacturing cost (according to well-informed sources, an unusual high percentage of these dials break during the production process), these are highly sought after collectors' items and likely to increase in rarity in the years to come.
The present example is a typical child of the 1980's and remains timeless thanks to its perfect case proportions and smooth design. It can be considered an important collector's watch, great conversation piece, sound heaven for one's savings and, most importantly, a great daily wearer.
