A SIGNED APPOINTMENT FROM THE EARLY MONTHS OF THE NEW GOVERNMENT IN ITS NEW YORK CITY CAPITAL, as Washington names William Heath collector of the port of Bermuda Hundred or City Point, Virginia. A fine Washington signature from his first term in office. The twin ports of Bermuda Hundred and City Point faced each other across the James River, and constituted one of twelve customs ports created by the new Federal government for the collection of revenue.
