Oblong, the gadrooned rim with foliage at corners, the cover surmounted by an acanthus handle, each side of cover engraved with a coat-of-arms, the base engraved with a crest, the underside of base engraved with presentation inscription dated 1939 for Benjamin Rush, marked on body, cover and handle
12¾ in. (32.4 cm.) long; 68 oz. (2,121 gr.)

Specialist note

This entree dish was presented in 1939 to Benjamin Rush, a direct descendent of Dr. Benjamin Rush (1746-1813), signer of the Declaration of Independence and Surgeon General of the Continental army.
