Specialist note

"I frequently refer to the body as a geography and movement. I am convinced by the concept that we are each a country and island but before you can understand other islands you have to know the topography of your own. We are islands linked and separated by an ocean. As far as we are so different and unique, we can collaborate, we can exchange information, but never compete. In any case I am passionate to understand my geography better...

Of course I am a sculptor. I am like a farmer for whom every single movement or decision takes a long time. I have said how important it was to me to float in the Dead Sea. Every time we have to make a decision intuition comes to the fore. Even Einstein said intuition is more important than knowledge. I trust a lot in intuition" (J. Plensa as quoted in C. Lilley, "Interview with Juame Plensa, Barcelona, 2011," p. 130).
