Specialist note
The Scottish photographer James Graham, was in the Holy Land from December 1853 to 1856 and took some of the earliest photographs of Jerusalem and the Holy Land. The Pre-Raphaelites Thomas Seddon and Wililam Holman Hunt visited him at his lodgings in a tower on the Mount of Olives, and used his photographs as reference material for their paintings.
