Comprising a mantel clock and pair of three-light candelabra; the clock surmounted by a laurel wreath and two cornucopiae, the dial inscribed A. Beurdeley & Fils/A Paris, above two acanthus scroll supports, on a stepped plinth and base with conforming frieze, on bun feet, the candelabra modeled en suite each with a putto
The clock: 21 in. (53.2 cm.) high, 16 in. (40.5 cm.) wide

Specialist note

Born in 1847, Alfred Beurdeley (d. 1919), took over his father's business in 1875. The firm specialized in producing the most luxurious articles to the highest quality and was pre-eminent among the Parisian ebenistes and bronziers, especially for the refinement of its ormolu. Beurdeley exhibited at the International Exhibitions, such as Paris in 1878 and Amsterdam in 1883, and was awarded the Gold Medal at the Paris Exposition Universelle of 1889.
A clock similar to the present model by A. Beurdeley & Fils sold Sotheby's, New York, 30 October 2003, lot 193. A garniture with different candelabra was offered Christie's, London, 15 May 1997, lot 192 and another at Sotheby's, New York, 26 October 2010, lot 412.
