ATTRIBUTED TO JOSEPH-EMMANUEL ZWIENER, LATE 19TH CENTURY
Surmounted by a shaped incarnate turquin marble top above a bevelled glazed door with a bombé panel depicting a scène galante of a courting couple, the mirrored interior enclosing four glazed shelves, the conformingly-decorated sides with glazed panels, the angles headed by cornucopia clasps terminating in tapering legs with paw sabots
63½ in. (161 cm.) high; 32 in. (81.5 cm.) wide; 13½ in. (34 cm.) deep

Specialist note

The present cabinet is typical of Zwiener's work: an elaborate interpretation of the fluid Rococo manner executed to the highest standards, with vernis Martin panels and encrusted with intricate gilt-bronze mounts. Identical winged rocaille corner chutes, showing the influence of Léon Messagé, feature to a number of vitrines by Zwiener, including a pair stamped ' E. ZWIENER' sold Christie's, London, 20 March 2003, lot 38 (£38,240).
