Of traditional form with upright handle, cloisonné enamelled overall with stylised foliage and geometric motifs within ropework borders in shades of green, orange, blue, purple and white on brown ground, the upright openwork dentillated handle similarly enamelled, inscribed under base in Russian 'to him happy New Year many happy returns! Me' and dated '1/I/1914', marked under base
5 5/8 in. (14.3 cm.) high

By repute, a gift from the descendants of Valdemars Pele (b. 1887) to the present owner.
