CIRCA 1878, RAISED SUNBURST PAD MARKS, BOTH SIGNED WITH AN NV MONOGRAM FOR NARCISSE VIVIEN
Each of cylindrical form flanked by ring handles, finely painted with birds perched on flowering branches eyeing insects in flight, the rim pierced with alternating ovolo and a dot pattern
14¾ in. (37.4 cm.) high (2)

Specialist note

N. Vivien is recorded as a meticulous painter of birds often in association with platinum grounds. His work was exhibited at the Paris Universelle Exposition of 1878. A Narcisse Vivien, likely one in the same with the present artist, is recorded at 85 Boulevard Voltaire in 1883.
