The eighteenth century was a period of great inventiveness and achievement in the decorative arts. As cabinet making techniques in France and England became more advanced, the quality of gilt bronze mounts and construction improved allowing greater freedom in design, giving birth to a multitude of creative possibilities. Tulipwoods and exotic timbers were used to great effect. These gilded, veneered and delicately painted pieces have influenced many of the Interiors we see today.

Each with a panelled S-scroll toprail, the scroll-arms and seat rail partially reeded with S-scroll ornament, on stylised palemette leaf carved swept legs terminating in a paw foot, re-upholstered with a squab cushion and two loose cushions
