2 volumes, 4° (270 x 210mm). 61 hand-coloured engraved botanical plates by F. Sansom after Sydenham Edwards, 13 uncoloured architectural plates, extra-illustrated with a duplicate plate number 28. (Imprint of uncoloured plate F in vol.I cropped, some spotting and browning to text and uncoloured plates.) Contemporary red straight-grained morocco gilt, covers with decorative border of fillets and roll-toll with flower and fruit swags and vases, spines in six compartments with raised bands, lettered in the second and fifth, the others with repeat decoration in gilt and blind with small tools and pointillé work, gilt turn-ins, gilt edges (rebacked preserving original spines, some scuffing to spines and extremities). Provenance: William Foyle (leather booklabels; sold, Christie's, 13 July 2000, lot 794).
