The centre painted with a large coat of arms of the family Valckenier from Amsterdam with a shaded pink falcon crest, an inner border of grisaille and gilt grapevine around the well and the rim with three finely painted grisaille views of European towns with the crest at the bottom shown in landscape, rubbing, minor rim nibbles

Specialist note

Various members of the influential Valckenier family were involved with the Dutch East India Company and ordered armorial porcelain, the leading family member being Adriaan Valckenier, Governor-General of the Indies 1737-41.
