Gilt-finished jewelled lever movement, bimetallic compensation balance, gold cuvette, white enamel dial, Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, circular case, inlaid blue enamel Roman numerals to the glazed aperture in the front, inside with engraved inscription Presented by H.R.H. Prince of Wales to Captain Jacobson, 1879, hinged back with engraved Prince of Wales feathers and motto Ich dien, German for "I serve", cuvette signed and numbered, case stamped with casemaker's initials MF

With Klaftenberger original fitted presentation box.

According to the engraved inscription and the engraved coat-of-arms on this watch it was presented by Albert Edward Prince of Wales (9 November 1841 - 6 May 1910), and later King Edward VII of the United Kingdom from 1901 to 1910. He was the only British ruler whose royal house was called the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. The name was changed to Windsor by his son, George V of the United Kingdom in 1917 and is still used today. Edward was born Albert Edward and was the oldest son of Queen Victoria and her husband, Prince Albert.
