The lid inlaid with the crest of the Barons Muncaster and the cypher 'FCM', the velvet-lined interior with removable tray fitted with mother-of-pearl and silver sewing equipment, with carrying handles and shell-cast feet

Lady Frances Catherine Pennington, Baroness Muncaster (1806-1853), given to her as a gift on occasion of her marriage to Lowther Augustus John Pennington, 3rd Baron Muncaster (1802-1838) on 15 December 1828;
