Salar the Salmon was published in 1936 and featured original illustrations by Tunnicliffe (lots 64-75). The novel follows Salar, a five year old male salmon, who is driven by a desire to return to the stream of his birth. It is a perilous journey, in which Salar faces numerous obstacles, including nets (lot 64), fisherman (lot 67), and poachers (lot 71).
