Specialist note
The arms are those of Bennet impaling Astley for Charles Bennet, 3rd Earl of Tankerville (1716-1767). In 1742, he married Alice, the daughter of Sir John Astley, 2nd Baronet. Charles Bennet was briefly a member of Parliament (from 1748-1749) and in 1753, took his seat in the House of Lords, having succeeded his father to the earldom.
