Specialist note

The Faun playing a flute, is part of a group devoted to the forest, with Hamadryad and Flora, placed in the Park of Marly at the "Fer cheval" (horseshoe) at the bottom of the "river". Commanded in 1707 and dated 1710, the original marble group was transported to the Tuileries Gardens as early as 1716 and is now in the Louvre Museum in Paris since 1870
