BY SWAINE & ADENEY, MERRY, AND OTHERS, LATE 19TH-EARLY 20TH CENTURY
Comprising: a leather crop by Swaine & Adeney with two gold bands hallmarked London 1890 and engraved 'A' with a viscount's coronet, carved horn handle and leather lash; two bamboo crops with carved horn handles, leather lashes and silver bands, one hallmarked London 1912 and engraved 'Jack from R.C., June 9th 1913', the other hallmarked London 1885 and engraved 'From L.W.' and 'S' with an earl's coronet; a pair of black leather whips with white-metal handles and three bands and, a similar whip with silver handle and band engraved 'ALTHORP 1ST LIFE GUARDS', all by Swaine & Adeney; and five bamboo crops with carved horn handles and leather lashes, one by Merry with two bands, engraved 'S' with earl's coronet and 'For the 2nd Best Dog Puppy, 1877', and one with gilt-metal band engraved 'R.S. from A.E.F., Octr. 1878'
