Of very finely-woven white damask, with central Garter ribbon and Spencer cypher, woven within linked chains and a border of scrolling blooms and shamrocks

Commissioned by John Poyntz, 5th Earl Spencer (1835-1910) when serving his first tenure as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland 1868-1874, combining the Garger and Irish emblems with his family arms.
