FOUR TORTOISESHELL DESK OBJECTS
19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY
Comprising: a pair of ashtrays applied in gold on one with a clown and on the other with a harlequin; a necessaire-à-coudre of knife-box form with mother-of-pearl inlay, containing a silver thimble and part pair of scissors and a heart-shaped pin tray with silver ribbon surmount and gadroon rim, London, 1892 (4)

The knife-box etui: Lady Sarah Spencer (1838-1919), 28 St. James's Place; Brought to Althorp by Albert Edward John, 7th Earl Spencer (1892-1975) in 1923.
