Specialist note

Photographed in the Sir Joshua Room in 1909, with earlier upholstery which was, according to the 7th Earl, 'originally a Fancy dress skirt worn by Elizabeth Georgina, Countess Spencer at a Ball at Buckingham Palace in 1848.'
