Specialist note
William Wigram, the fourth son of Sir Robert Wigram, 1st Bt., joined Reid's Brewery, of which his father had a controlling interest, and later became managing partner with the firm. He was also a Director of the London Assurance Corporation, Director and ultimately Chairman of the East India Company, and Member of Parliament for New Ross (1807-1812) and Wexford (1826-1830). He formed a very fine collection of sporting pictures, including other important examples by Ward, and works by Landseer and Woodward.
