A BERLIN PORCELAIN PINK-GROUND TOPOGRAPHICAL PART CABARET
1849-1870, blue sceptre and seal marks, iron-red stenciled orb mark, various incised and impressed marks
Of Neuzierath form, each piece painted after Freydank with two named views of Royal Palaces or other important public buildings of Berlin and Potsdam within raised gilt foliate cartouches, the pink-ground gilt with geometric stylized foliage ornament, the interiors burnished gold, comprising:
A shaped oval tray with Schloss Sansouci and Das neue Palais
A teapot and cover with Schloss Babertsberg
A coffee-pot and cover with Friedens Kirche and Garnison Kirche
A hot-milk jug and cover with Charlottenhof
A hot-water jug and cover with Peter Paul Kirche and Kirche zu Sacron
An oval sugar-bowl and cover with Scholss Paretz
A large waste-bowl with Marner Palais and Schloss Glienicke
A teacup and saucer with Charlottenhof, Danziger Haus a.d. Pfaueninsel and Pfaueninsel b. Potsdam

Specialist note

The present cabaret is likely from a series of travel services in the Neuzierath form produced around 1856, each with a variant ground color. Records confirm that the Prussian royal family gave such cabarets as gifts, corroborating the traditional provenance of the present example as having been owned by the Kaiser.
