Maker's mark IBI in oval, Batavia, first quarter 18th Century
The pear-shaped body supported on three scroll feet joined by pierced panels and shell- and scroll ornaments, the lower body fitted with three taps between shell ornaments, below the engraving Ter Gedacht-V-Wijlen Zijn Edelh-Henric Zwaardecroon, oud gouv-generaal v-Nederl-India. geboor-Binnen Rotterd-den-26-Jan-1667 overl-tot Bat-den-12-e en begr-den-16-Augusti-1728, the upper body with cut-card floral ornaments, surmounted by lambrequins and two swing scroll handles, the cover moulded with knop finial, slightly warped, some dents and scratches, marked to the base

Specialist note

Henrick Zwaardecroon (26 January 1667-12 August 1728) was Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies from 1718 until 1725.
