Forming 'Victoria R.I' in old-cut diamond script letters mounted in gold, circa 1897, 5.8 cm long, in fitted brown leather case

Specialist note

This brooch was probably made to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria (r.1837-1901) in 1897. The script letters 'Victoria R.I' stand for 'Victoria Regina Imperata', signifying Queen Victoria's position as Queen of Great Britain and Ireland and Empress of India.
