The silver beaker is seen in the photograph of Shackleton's cabin (in the left foreground below the vase of carnations) on-board Discovery taken on the eve of the departure of the National Antarctic Expedition in July 1901 (for the photograph see Christie's, 25 Sept. 2001, lot 37, reproduced opposite).
