Michael Ayrton (1921-1975)

In Autumn 1938 Michael Ayrton and John Minton settled in Paris where they both studied under Eugéne Berman and occasionally in the studio of Giorgio de Chirico. In 1938, when the present work was painted, music and ballet played a central position in both Ayrton's and Minton's lives.
