How to sell

A Chinese Cizhou stoneware dish
Jin dynasty, mid 13th Century
Moulded with shallow rounded sides and low foot, incised and painted with a white hare posed between two branches on an ochre ground, minor hairline cracks to the surface, some loss to the glaze

Specialist note

Usually painted with a floral decoration, the decoration with a hare is rare on Cizhou dishes. A slightly smaller example is in the Tokyo National Museum. The dish in the museum is also incised with the date 1269. See M. Tregear, La Céramique Song, Fribourg, 1982, p. 96, no. 83.
