Cathcart William Methven (1849-1925)

Methven settled in the vicinity of Howick for a short period after retiring in around 1920. Nigel Hughes dates the present work to the early 1920s and suggests that, due to its large size, it is probably Methven's definitive picture of the subject, one he painted several times for local settlers.
