Specialist note
The Norwich Gazette of 1759 records the bankruptcy of James Elmy, a tanner. His house, tanning yard and summer house were auctioned at the the King's Head Inn in Beccles on 7 February 1759, the contents of his house having been sold on the 6 January. It is possible the present lot was among these effects.
