Neo-Etruscan Interiors became fashionable during the reign of Louis XVI in France and were also deployed by Robert Adam in 1775 for his designs at Osterly House, Middlesex. It was then known as the style étrusque and derived mainly from Pompeii and Herculaneum, with influence from ancient Greek design - the actual link to a specifically 'Etruscan' style was tenous.
