of typical form, with green-brown patina, mounted on mahogany plinth, with clapper and rope handle, and inscribed 'Taken from Schooner/Sadie F. Caller/Wrecked at Chignik Bay/May 2, 1891. Alaska'
8¾ x 11½ in. (22.2 x 29.2 cm.)

Specialist note

Built at Essex, Massachussets in 1873. In 1891, she left San Francisco with cargo headed for Alaska. She was never heard from again and no news of her fate was known until almost 20 years later when Seattle diver Walter McCray was working in 60 feet of water in Chignik Lagoon, Alaska and he found himself on the bulwarks of the sunken ship.
