Oblong with raised, engine-turned border & shell corners, floral-chased sides with engine-turned panels & base, cover decorated in high relief with a roundhouse or engine shed & two large chimneys behind, gilt interior inscribed "To Francis Forster Esqr. The scene on this box is a speculative view of the engine shed at Camden where there was also a a winding engine, hence the two large chimneys. From its installation in 1837 until 1844 the winding engine hauled or assisted trains up the gradient out of Euston & apart from the Euston Arch, the Camden Chimneys were the most striking feature of the Euston to Boxmoor line which opened on 20th July, 1837. The Kilsby Tunnel was situated south-east of Rugby & featured in the series of lithographs by J.C.Bourne.
