George Mounsey Wheatley Atkinson (fl.1806-1884)

Of English parentage, Atkinson began his career as a ship's carpenter. Largely self-taught, he later became Government Surveyor of Shipping and Emigrants at Queenstown, where he was born. He exhibited marine works at the R.H.A. from 1842.
