The round stick faintly stamped GAND & BERNARDEL F.RES, the tortoiseshell frog with a silver decorative inlay of a floral motif, the silver and ebony adjuster with pearl eye, weight 62 grams

Specialist note

The ferrule is engraved G. Sazerac/de Forge/Souvenir and dated at the heel plate 1874. This violin bow is one of four from a full quartet of presentation bows (two violin, one viola and one cello bow) made by François Nicolas Voirin for the firm of Gand and Bernardel Frères in 1874.
The surviving viola bow is illustrated in L'Archet, Bernard Millant and Jean François Raffin, Paris 2000, Vol. II p. 373, pl. A-H
