“I did think of my sculptures as being made of colors. Which to me is interesting, because color is abstract; it’s a quality. So my sculptures were in a way abstract at the outside. That is, slightly in another dimension – that of the imagination and idea. I like it when that sort of thing happens – when something straightforward goes sort of weird in a positive way.
